This year, to celebrate the program’s 10th anniversary and our commitment to supporting a vibrant dance sector, were excited to present the world premiere of REDSHIFT, a new work by one of Australia’s most exciting young makers, James Batchelor.
In cosmology, redshift is a way of describing our relative distance to an object in space. REDSHIFT proposes a universal perspective and extends our attention beyond the immediate source of the body to cosmological shifts in space and time.
REDSHIFT is science as performance, conducted in movement. With this work, James Batchelor wants to inspire curiosity and invites you to think about dance as a conversation, a collaboration and exchange with other discipline and communities. REDSHIFT is your opportunity to discover James Batchelor’s magnetic movement style and experience his refined practice at the intersection of dance and visual arts.
