Immigration Controversy: One woman's mission to prevent her husband from being deported from the U.S.
Naz and Hope Mustakim were living the American dream until their lives were unexpectedly turned upside down.
On March 30, 2011, the couple was awakened in their home by ICE agents who informed Naz that his green card was being taken away and that he was being deported for a felony conviction in 2007.
Since that conviction, Naz had been rehabilitated, was sober and making it his mission to become an active part of society. During that time he also re-applied for his green card and it was approved.
ICE agents told the Mustakims that they had just received the case in March and that pleading guilty revoked his citizenship status.
Hope is now in the process of fund raising to hire an attorney who can help Naz earn humanitarian relief and stay in the U.S.
