We successfully completed our 2017 Calabasas Film Festival! We are pleased to report that we doubled our attendance from the previous years and screened films to sold out audiences every night at each venue. The highlight of our festival was opening night for the 10th Anniversary screening of TALK TO ME at the newly renovated L.B Mayor theater on The Motion Picture and Television Fund campus. Director Kasi Lemmons, Cedric The Entertainer, producers and crew joined us for the Q&A and VIP after party.
Thursday, Sept. 14th we had over 600 people join us for the after party in the City Hall courtyard! That evening we showcased the World Premiere of VISAGE from local filmmakers, the West Coast premiere of LITERALLY RIGHT BEFORE AARON starring Justin Long and Colbie Smulders and a Netflix series premiere of UP NORTH. Filmmakers and cast from all three films mixed and mingled at our VIP after party catered by Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop, Stella Artois and wines by Emmolo.
On Friday, Sept. 15th we showcased the World Premiere of the Sony/Alexander Payne produced film CRASH PAD at the prestigious Carlson Theater on the Viewpoint campus. Director Kevin Tent as well as the writer, producers and talent joined for the Q&A and fully catered after party at the Calabasas Country Club. Saturday night was our first ever family friendly night where we screened the World Premiere of the animated film ANIMAL CRACKERS featuring Danny DeVito, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. Director Tony Bancroft was in attendance for the Q&A and closing night party.
And as always we close the festival on Sunday by honoring our future filmmakers. This year our Student Film Program was presented by The Los Angeles Film School and a catered reception sponsored by Bristol Farms. We gifted the winners over $30k in prizes including scholarships and software.
Looking forward to CFF2018!
