The SMA explains why this year’s AUSA kicked off with the Battle Challenge. ©2017 Army Times. The Battle Challenge is the creation of Dr. Paul Davis and produced by On•Target Productions. It is a touring sports event, making appearances at military bases across the United States. The job-related, military-themed event incorporates ubiquitous tasks common to all the services and most importantly, marksmanship with a modified M-4 laser rifle and accompanying sound effects.
