Leonard Sheil (Irl) and Norbert Maringer show work for the first time in Galerie Nothburga Innsbruck.
Sheil’s paintings sit on an uncomfortable edge to Maringer’s objects, but in this Baroque building in the heart
of the city, they explore their own boundaries and territory.
With Maringer’s work, the earth materially and symbolically runs through his objects, and the sea,the subject matter of some of Sheil’s work for over 20 years, contains some of its primary elements, like salt. Following Sheil’s exhibition Sea Change earlier this summer in Ireland at Droichead Arts Centre, the work in this show further investigates the idea of known position and unknown destination.
