A Photo Story by Rebekah Stark Johnson
During October 2017, community leaders from Hattiesburg participated in a Bicentennial project “Celebrating Storytellers: A Taste of the Hub”, to pay forward stories that have shaped the community and cast a bright vision for the future.
“The Path Through The Process", written, scored and photographed by Rebekah Stark Johnson, tells the story of her role as Arts Council Director and Musician, balancing her love of the creative process with her dedication to community.
“Through the process of writing and taking photographs of my daily activities, I found myself falling in love with my cello again, and renewing old recordings and compositions that I have performed and recorded over my professional career. I realized that my adventure of making Hattiesburg my home is important to tell. Discovering the people here and the creativity we share, brings me joy and challenges each day. I invite other Mississippians on this special 200 year anniversary to reflect on personal stories, reconnect with the past, and discover creative pathways that make their home an even better place to live!”
- Rebekah Stark Johnson, Executive Director, Hattiesburg Arts Council
