There was no time to react when the world fell apart. Locked in a bathroom amidst the ravaging plague, one man prays for salvation from the demons pounding at the door. His makeshift supplies are running out, his wounds sear with relentless pain and insanity is slowly creeping into his mind. Memories of the love he left behind haunt his thoughts and all hope disappears. He struggles with what will certainly be his last decision: to take his own life, or wait for the Blackout.
The story, is inspired by two very different literary works; the first being “Zombie Haiku” by Ryan Mecum, a first person depiction of the daily life of a zombie dictated through Haiku poetry. The second inspiration was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's “Faust.” A tragic two part play, in which a wager is made between God and the Devil, that he may tempt God's favourite human.
