There are many ways of working as a dancer and choreographer, both in and out of the studio. That work is generally referred to as ‘practice’ or 'the artist's practice'. But what do we do when we practise? Are we perpetually engaged in cycles of creative development, or in varying states of performance? Or are we, like athletes, systematically practising techniques to attain skill and proficiency and improve performance?
