On the 6th of November 1990 Johfra writes in his diary that I, a son of a colleague-painter, will be filming at his house that day. It's a day he won't be painting.
I wanted to explore the relationship between the artist and his environment. We'll see the village Le Moustier in Dordogne, his home at the watermill and lots of his paintings and drawings.
I also met his wife Ellen Lórien, also a painter, but above all the manager of her husband. During their life together she made sure that Johfra had exhibitions in numerous countries. She is still painting tremendous works of art today. A video is being made on her life and work.
Reviewing Johfra's series of works it seems likely that the imagery was an inspiration for films such as Tolkiens 'The lord of the Rings' and other modern phantasy films. In fact Johfra was one of the founders of Fantastic Realism and this influence is here still today.
