Salmon poisoned by stormwater pollution in the Duwamish River

Toxic stormwater runoff can kill adult coho salmon in as little as three hours. This is a coho in the Duwamish showing symptoms of exposure to stormwater runoff, the cocktail of heavy metals, oil, grease, fertilizers and waste that washes off roads and hard surfaces when it rains.The solution is smarter development of land, using green infrastructure techniques that slow and filter rainfall.
