Song: Friday Night, Mcfly (from Motion in the Ocean)
In the fall of 2010, PO-MO was asked to create two interactive projection installations for permanent use at the University of Reno.
In order to do this, we had to build motion and gesture tracking software from scratch, solve issues like shadows or too much ambient lighting obscuring the projection, and create a simple system we could access remotely in case anything went wrong.
We are using a gesture tracking system with the Kinect camera. It has taken us half a year to perfect our motion tracking system.
In addition, UNR wanted a massive wall mounted touchscreen so students can surf the web. The touchscreen was created by making an IR diode frame and mounting it on a 50" plasma screen TV. We used a laptop running linux to lock down the browser and run a touchscreen compatible keyboard. Students can browse, send emails, and do everything they need to online without ever accessing the system.
All the installations will be in place the first week of June.
