"Der Sandmann" is an analoge, interactive play book project by Christina Heurig which will be featured in the upcoming image video project.
It retells the creepy story of "Der Sandmann" by E.T.A. Hoffmann, which features the little boy Nathanel having trouble to separate reality from phantasy: As a young boy he mistakes a nightly visitor as a horrifying figure who steals eyes from little children - his phantasy runs wild. Witnessing the death of his dad soon after, he blames the figure for the accident and feels haunted by it even as he grows older. He falls in love with a doll, gets madly fascinated by eyes of all kind and fails to keep track of reality...
The book features psychodelic black and white photography printed on foil, creepy notes from Nathanael, collected (real) scientific papers on psychology, religion, dreams, telepathy, character analysis and many more: those "memory files" invite you to dig deep, discover and browse deep in the realm of N.s reality.
