LOGLINE: A fairytale artist asks God for the recognition of the world and to win his beloved as a wife then he dares not ask God for more.
The fairy-tale artist John Bauer had great success in the Nordic countries with his illustrations of mythological creatures. In 1915 he received the Honorary Medal at the International Exhibition in San Francisco. At the Academy of Fine Arts, he met Ester Ellqvist. This coming to age love drama is expressed in his enchanted world that inspired Disney, Tolkien and many more. The fate of the family was to be sealed in a storm on Vättern lake on 20th November 1918.
We have now made a 4-minute trailer showing how a young John comes to Stockholm and meets Ester. It will give a sense of how we want to tell their story, using his own words and the texts from love letters between them.
