The future is cold and emotionless. Love is dead. No children have been born in over twenty years. The world is run with ruthless efficiency by intelligent machines. Machines who owe their origin to the early history of machine learning research. These machines quickly surpassed humanity and roles began to reverse. Humans started learning from machines. But learning from machines made humans forget their origins. With the aid of machines humans became more intelligent than ever before. However, this was at the expense of the creative and emotional side of humanity. Humans forgot what it meant to truly perceive the world.
In response to this, the machines started researching solutions and developed the field of Human Learning. Artist and scientist machines began experimenting with human learning algorithms to reintroduce creativity and emotion to humanity. What you are about to witness is the first of these human learning trials. An algorithm has been devised that subjects the human to a short training procedure. The training lasts for seconds, but for the participant years have passed.
MOBGEN:Lab is the research & development division of MOBGEN, set up to investigate disruptive innovation with a focus on mobile technology and interface. We have the ambitious aim to identify and map the trends across the design industry that will create changes in the way we interact with brands, products and places. We aim to push the boundaries, to be the visionaries not the followers.
The idea for this film was developed in MOBGEN:Lab over conversations about the future of Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence. The film aims to provoke questions about the direction technology is leading us.
