Video documentation of the installation 'A Trace-Body' installed at the Graduate Degree Show, Glasgow School of Art, 2017.
An installation in two parts. In the first room three screens play 'Videos from a body'. On the floor of the second room are 'Garments: gusset, waist, and ankle'.
A camera is connected to a body, capturing traces of its movement. A body acts as a lens, its rhythm embedded in the video.
‘A Trace-Body’ (2017) explored ideas around body, communication technology, and intimacy. The work used structuralist, abstract videos recorded from a mobile phone concealed to my body at the gusset, waist, and ankle. The videos were displayed as an installation on separate screens alongside the garments used to hold the lens to my body. The installation overall attempted to interweave conscious understandings of our relationship with media technology, our bodily experience, and issues of subjectivity when experiencing an exhibition.
