Currency is a community-based screendance, exploring the ambiguity of ageing and challenges of visibility in girls and women. With a cast spanning 5 decades, Currency challenges fixed ideas of ‘old’ and ‘young,’ representing ageing as ambiguous and slippery, as movement along a current of time. Created in two months in collaboration with the dancers, Currency also considers the experience of our physical bodies as simultaneously architecturally present and illusory. Filmed in Wangoom, Australia with support from the Regional Arts Fund and Warrnambool Art Gallery.
