A half of Cherche Encore, Hortense uses live coding as a way to talk about how struggling with one’s mental health affects artistic practice.
'A Room of One’s Own' was the first collaboration between Cherche Encore and the sixtyseven collective hosted between Deptford Cinema and the flat above in August 2017.
This event was dedicated to the safe bedroom space, where music and friendship occur. We wanted to meet and talk and experience DIY electronic music and ideas of hosting inclusive events in familiar spaces; we intend for this to be your space away from consumer nightlife culture to engage in the creation of sonic spaces.
Performances and TidalCycles meetup workshop took place between Deptford Cinema and the upstairs flat’s roof terrace that became a stage for acts exploring ideas around private and public space, sonic experimentation and the sharing economy of a communal car park.
