Dr. Karen Effrem is known nationally as one of the most knowledgeable and well-regarded critics of Social Emotional Learning. We are honored to have her here with us tonight. Dr. Effrem was trained as a pediatrician, and she currently serves as president of the nonprofit organization, Education Liberty Watch. She is Executive director of the Florida Stop Common Core Coalition, she serves on the board of the Alliance for Human Research Protection, and she is National Common Core Issues Chairwoman for Eagle Forum.
Dr. Effrem’s medical degree is from Johns Hopkins University, and her pediatric training is from the University of Minnesota. She has provided testimony and analysis for Congress, numerous state legislatures, and many organizations on early childhood education, social emotional learning, Common Core and many other education issues. Dr. Effrem is a featured writer at the American Principles Project, and her writing has also been published at The Federalist, Conservative Review and Truth in American Education, among others. She has spoken at numerous state and national conferences and has been interviewed by many national, state and local media outlets. Dr. Karen Effrem and her husband Paul have three children and one grandchild.
