The motivation for CIPASLA is rooted in the belief that if efficient, responsible agricultural methods are not developed and local organization are not strengthened with the participation of those impacted, the survival of future generations is seriously at risk. As a nonprofit organization, this collaborative effort of 13 organizations, works toward the harmonious development of the inhabitants of the region through inter-agency coordination and community participation within the principles of the logical chain of sustainability.
CIPASLA's mission is to develop joint actions with the community in a participatory manner, actions that contribute to improving living standards of the population of the Oveja river basin and the northern Cauca. The actions are integrated into the logical chain of sustainability, respecting the values and strengthening local culture. CIPASLA action focuses on finding solutions and implementation methods, and tools to strengthen community organizations to raise the quality of life, improve natural resource management, rural development and alleviate poverty. The projects that are part of these components are comprehensive and all must keep a high level of community involvement, capitation and conservation. Focused mainly in the sub basin of the Cabuyal River, with an area of 8,000 ha and 30 communities, CIPASLA has brought alternative technologies and products that are solving both ecosystem and livelihood issues.
