Selling out or buying in?
As soon as you accept even one dollar from a snowboard company in exchange for
allowing exploitation of your name, image and likeness to be used for promoting
products for sale; that is the moment you have "sold out". Or is it the moment you
accept a seven figure endorsement contract from a cruise line or a nationally
branded home builder? It's open to interpretation. Personally, I feel it is tough
enough for most snowboarders to find a way to pay for travel, lift tickets and
equipment, so if someone is willing to pay them to show a logo, doesn't that money
help them continue to snowboard? Isn't that a good thing? Why is it so important for
a rider to align themselves with only certain brands or product categories and taboo
to endorse certain brands or product categories? It's a funny business.....
