Talk given to the Radical Anthropology Group at Daryll Forde Seminar Room, Anthropology Building, 14 Taviton Street, London WC1H 0BW on 14 November 2017. Chris Knight, founder of the Radical Anthropology Group and author of Blood Relations: Menstruation and the Origins of Culture, explains the 'sex-strike' and how humans got to be human thanks to females working together and getting males to contribute to raising costly, large-brained offspring like us. This hypothesis is strictly materialist, evolutionary and testable. It is supported by evidence of human physiology, genetics, archaeology and ethnography.
