In the second series, a murder in the Matonge district of a political exile from the mini-state of Kitangi - once part of the Belgian colony - chief inspector FGP Paul Gerardi slowly but surely pulls into the swamp of a conspiracy revolving around possession of the diamond mines in the state.
Gerardi is the only one convinced that members of the dissolved Salamander group are involved in this conspiracy whose tentacles even extend into the Prime Minister's office. What Paul Gerardi cannot suspect is that he also appears to be involved in a personal way in the matter that puts his life and that of his daughter at stake.
The team in the second series remains largely the same, with Ward Hulselmans as screenwriter and Frank Van Mechelen as director. And apart from Filip Peeters, Leah Thys, Wim Opbrouck, Koen Van Impe and Tine Reymer also return to the cast. Salamander 2 will be on screen in 2018.
