Aryasb Feiz Progression Reel Tomorrow

This is a progression reel of my animation shots from Tomorrow short film trailer. I was the writer, director and one of the animation supervisors of the film.

I wanted to upload a progression reel that doesn't skip a lot of steps between references and blocking so it actually shows the errors and iterations in the process which is a great learning source for students. I as an animator make a lot of mistakes and its part of the process. I hope this video will be helpful.

My approach is a mix of layer animation and pose to pose blocking. In the last shot of the video I animated the big guy pose to pose but I did the dog differently; animated the body first then added the legs because I find it easier to animate quadrupeds layered and also I layered the boy's head then his body. I didn't use any constraints for the dog and the big guy's leg, dog is animated frame by frame to match the position of his leg.
