Conceived of as part of Landscape X (artistic interventions in the developing exurban landscape by Anne Weshinskey, Heather Teresa Clark, and Arni Gudmundsson.)
“As a symbol of an already-disappeared rural American way of life, the outhouse is appears in this performance as a time machine of perceived ‘progress’. From it’s rural origins-to a construction zone converting farmland to subdivisions-to its final resting place in the backyard of a suburban house, the outhouse characterizes the problematic nature of progress. As the wheels spin in the hands (and feet) of a faceless populace, suburban and exurban development is exposed as one of the most controversial topics of our time."
