It’s hard to imagine, but there are a 130 million girls around the world who are not in school today. In rural Northern Nigeria, where most girls do not finish school, work is underway to change cultural norms around early child marriage and to promote the value of educating a girl. Malala Yousafzai, the young Nobel Peace Prize winner and education activist, leads a team of phenomenal and dedicated individuals as they fight to keep girls in school. Working as Malala Fund, the group supports education champions campaigning for the rights of girls to 12 years of free and safe education and, in so doing, ensures that thousands of young, vulnerable girls are able to reach their full potential. And with the help of Citi and the bank’s global presence, Malala Fund is able to get resources to their champions, reach more girls and expand their efforts to even more territories.
