Lauren Robbins and Derrick Butler star in the thought provoking short drama "Midnight Souls Still Remain". Told over the course of several unified nights, "Midnight Souls Still Remain" follows the story of two passionate teenagers exposed under the harsh observant illumination. Watch closely, for time may take on a different role as streetlamps flicker on and night sets in.
This film is my final project for 16mm Production (Film I) at Southern Methodist University. The emphasis for the project was to find an interesting place and use that as a theme. The project was also greatly affected by the fact that it couldn't have any sync sound due to the Bolexes' loud motors so sound design was also emphasized. First and foremost I set out to create a mood more so than a story, although it is a narrative. I would recommend to pay attention to the patterns and the repeating shots if you are confused by what is happening because it's nature is more experimental.
