Feras Hamza earned his D.Phil. from the University of Oxford in 2001. From 2003-2008 he worked at the Institute of Ismaili Studies, and is now Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at the American University in Dubai. His publications include an annotated translation of the Qur'anic commentary "Tafsir al-Jalalayn" (2008).
Joseph Lumbard is an Assistant Professor of Classical Islam at Brandeis University, and the editor of "Islam, Fundamentalism, and the Betrayal of Tradition" (2004), an essay collection that examines historical factors that led to the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. He completed his Ph.D. at Yale University in 2003.
