Synopsis

Longshoreman Frank Gunner was arrested for manslaughter in 1975 after he killed a man in a bar fight. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. During his stay behind bars, Hank wrote letters to his daughter
Hannah and his wife Carol. Carol made the decision to protect Hannah by keeping the letters from her. After two years of being ignored, Hank eventually gave up on his family. He began turning his thoughts into travels.
He planned on traveling the world. He read books from the prison library like Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer, The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Travels With Lizbeth: Three Years on the Road, and on
the Streets by Lars Eighner. He asked prisoners leaving prison to send him postcards, and now his cell is covered with exotic postcards, statues, and calendars from places all over the world. In 1986, Hank receives a visit from
his now eighteen-year-old daughter Hannah. The visit becomes more than a rekindling of the relationship....

...they find a way to be together forever.
