Roza El-Hassan (HUN/SYR)
By letting her work sprawl in multiple directions, El-Hassan creates a whole that encompasses all human hopes and fears, embodying currents of unrest and trauma as well as dignity, protest, and artistic integrity. Aside from her “social design-projects” her practice includes drawing, painting and sculpture, and some works come about as sketches for sculpture, performance and architecture. Iaspis Artist in Residence in Stockholm 12 October –31 December 2017.
Iaspis is the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's international programme for Visual and Applied Artists; in the fields of visual art, architecture, design, fashion and crafts. The premises of the Iaspis residency programme in Stockholm is centrally located at Maria skolgata 83 on the, urban island of Södermalm in Stockholm, and comprises offices, studios, project room and a unique archive of artists who are currently working in Sweden.
