Audio is 99% composed of my voice sampled uttering the word "crackers"
Morse. Waveform. Word. Slur. We have been codifying and code breaking from body to machine, social to asocial, analog to digital.
The video CRACKERS is a generated work that is an interplay of historical, social, audio-visual encoding and glitch as an overarching metaphor for social cohesion and breakdown. The word “Crackers” is visually rendered from an audio voice sample to visual waveform, to Morse code, to glitch (the breakdown). The voice sample is reworked to rhythmic patterns for the soundtrack.
We are historically natural encoders and this history carries on into the digital and beyond.
This video is part of an ongoing project called Waveform Landscapes where images of alternative other worlds are created through various generative processes from image captures of audio waveforms that translates sound into place.
