Exercises in Receptivity: Solar Works by Kamau Patton & Lindsey French
Wednesday, May 10th, 2017, 12pm - 1pm
How do we perceive and receive the sun? Join us as we absorb and amplify through time-based works by Kamau Patton (Faculty, Visual and Critical Studies) and Lindsey French (Faculty, Art & Technology). To do this, we’ll be journeying closer to the sun (weather permitting) where the Social Solar class has been charging a solar-powered battery throughout the semester. Meet us in the lobby of the MacLean Building at 12pm to ascend.
Students and faculty gathered on the roof of 116 S. Michigan ave while Lindsey French read a performative text titled "toward photosynthesis" and Kamau Patton played a solar panel. This event was organized in conjunction with the exhibition Post / Natural at Flaxman Library Special Collections.
