SONIC REVERBERATION is a sound installation commissioned by Singapore Tourism Board for Singapore Inside Out, Sydney, 2017.
SONIC Reverberation explores and investigates the aural architecture and auditory spatial awareness of space. Auditory spatial awareness is more than just the ability to detect space has changed sounds, it also includes the emotional and behavioral experience of space.
In this installation, I will be using metal plates and electromagnets to create sound devices (see drawings). When the electromagnet is being activated, it will attract the metal plate. When it is not activated, it will release and the metal plate will reverberates to create sound. The release and attract of the metal plate will be programmed. In total, I will be creating 5 pieces of these sound devices. More will be created if the space allows.
