MATHILDE'S BACKYARD - A PERFORMANCE IN FIVE PIECES OF FICTION is a correspondence between image and sound, body and mind, dancer and writer, meaning and absurdity. Five versions of truth unravel. Verbal and physical choreographies intersect, oppose, compose and reflect each other. Within a minimal setting, the plot unfolds by the string-pulling author out of pre-recorded story fragments. Based on a formalist approach, the piece structures an anatomy of existence suspended in the idea of an imaginary backyard.
