Are libraries in danger of becoming obsolete in the 21st Century? Emphatically not, according to Dale Vidmar, professor of information literacy and instruction at Southern Oregon University's Hannon Library.
Vidmar examines the future of libraries in the context of a dynamic, technological culture in a talk entitled "Libraries in the 21st Century" delivered on February 18, 2010 at the Southern Oregon University Hannon Library.
Drawing from personal and professional experience, Vidmar leads a journey of exploration, examining libraries past, present, and future. From the Royal Library of Alexandria to the Tanimura & Antle Family Library at California State University, Monterey Bay, and beyond, from chaos to democracy, from books and periodicals to Kindles and questions, Vidmar will consider the role of libraries and librarians in the lives of individuals and communities.
