Matthew Gardiner and Ray Gardiner test out the 2011 Zigzag system. The zigzag system is the 2nd generation of a project developed for The Border Project, a theatre company based in Adelaide Australia. The interactive system allows 200 people to cast votes in a linear fashion. The system is completely wireless using zigbee 802.15 protocol and chip from Maxstream. Inside the devices is an accelerometer and 3x RGB LEDs. The votes are collated in realtime and visualised with a simple line graph. The project is to facilitate a branching story structure, akin to a Choose-your-own-adventure, but with theatre as the medium.
