Sara Gordon is consulting planner for Shelter Island's Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, a plantation remnant gifted to the community in 2014 after 360 years in one family's hands. A certified planner, Sara has worked in local land use and as a sustainability advocate and educator since moving to the East End in 1998. Sara was born in Greenwich, Connecticut and raised to be a violinist, but instead has a degree in French from Barnard College. She bounced around media jobs in the City and had stints in the Hudson Valley and Hollywood before the birth of her son Sam in 1992, which led to her current career in environmental conservation, as she set out to save the Earth. She focuses now on innovative sustainable development strategies and water quality improvement projects. Sara lives on Shelter Island with her husband Peter Vielbig.
