This Fall, we’re getting to know the people behind Access Alaska and exploring the many sides of independent living. We met with Thomas Casey in late September, and followed him around for a few days. At a high school volleyball game, we watched as Thomas helped coach the Service High School varsity team. We tagged along as he pulled his daughter, Kira, on her longboard around their neighborhood. Later we sat down with Thomas at his home for a conversation about becoming paralyzed, the value of family, and the importance of independent living.
