Baleen is a blog reader application that amasses blog posts and turns them in to interactive experiences. In addition to filtering posts (via a user-defined color coding system), the user can 'doodle' on media to send it to Twitter, Tumblr, and other websites, create MP3 playlists from tracks posted on music blogs, and 'flip' posts to view them in the original browser format.
My objective with this self-initiated project was to create a concept for an app for a touchscreen device (the iPad in this demo) that was original, and one that I would find useful in everyday life. Blogs have become a main format in which people are informed of news, art, music, and more. The goal with this app is to inspire interaction, creating a way for people to get more out of the blog-reading experience than just quickly scanning through posts.
