On June 8 at City Hall, several New York City Council Members joined the New York City Youth Alliance to argue against cuts to the city budget that could harm more than 50,000 kids and families. Council members are negotiating with the mayor over a proposed $50 million reduction to after-school and youth programs that families rely on to keep their kids safe and learning beyond traditional school hours.
Among the Council Members who spoke against the budget cuts were Margaret Chin; Diana Reyna; Melissa Mark-Viverito; Mathieu Eugene; Ydanis Rodriguez and Rosie Mendez.
