A music video exploring the real, physical sound of knowledge - and the ghosts of the abyss between digital and physical information. Created by Gisle Martens Meyer, produced by Uncanny Planet, funded by NOPA, TONO, Bergen Kommune. For more information gmm.io/2017/10/atrophy-in-the-key-of-dreaming-books/
The work uses sounds and creates music from microcopic recordings of stored knowledge in the form of books, pages, words, shelves, libraries. The tiny sounds of letters, words, pages and books swarm with gentle quietness and mad ferocity through eerily quiet shelves, libraries and archives. The work also explores the chasm between static, secure physical knowledge on one side, and the endless, restless torrent of digital information on the other: The swarms are haunted by ghosts of electric static.
The project was created and filmed in libraries in Rome, Italy, september 2017.
