"From Fiber to Fitting: Forming Fashionable Frocks," by Lilia Beaman
From design concept to production, there is a great deal of work that goes into making clothes. Lilia will provide an overview of how a garment is created, touching on fabric selection, patternmaking, production development, production management, wholesaling, and retailing. It's a lot more than just knowing how to use a sewing machine...
Lilia is a native Austinite who owns and operates her own clothing line, Western Whims, specializing in western shirts and dresses. She has a B.S. in Textiles and Apparel from the University of Texas at Austin and has worked in the apparel industry for five years.
