How does one envision communication in a future where the instant transmission of data and messages is no longer feasible? In an unlikely place one finds a natural amplifier not only of sound, but of growth and restoration. Here, water is the healer and the transmitter. It is the most vital resource shifting violently and always; and we must learn to utilize its energy and restorative properties to our advantage. The Regenerator is an instrument that operates as a negative feedback loop and an analog mixer. Found sounds and field recordings from both land and sea; whale calls, field hollers, clanking metal, and passing conversation enter the container. The sound is mixed in the water, which is varied via pump and returns to the computer. Sound from the crowd enters the loop as well as it passes back and forth between the analog and the digital.
