In this activity the students work together to find five like objects that are hidden underneath a "turtle shell". Before the student can look under the shell, he or she must toss a beanbag into a basket. If he or she makes it, then he or she gets to look under the shell. If the object matched the one he needs then he takes it back to his group. If it is a different object, then it stays under the shell. If the shot is missed, then the student cannot look under the shell.
This cooperative activity works on a number of skills besides throwing. The students need to come up with a strategy to find the objects. Also, memory skills and communication skills really come into play, since the teammates can tell each other which shells to pick or not pick.
