The original footage was shot during the summer 2017 in a bay called Fork Bay near Silver Islet, Ontario. I went out on a very foggy morning in my kayak to shoot both stills and video in this favorite place. The bay is as the name implies split into two forks and has been a constant joy to explore for years. This particular summer was very different from the others as I had lost my wife earlier in the year and making images and video was my main source of comfort. During this summer my good friend Jim lost his mother "Honey" a person that was very close to my wife Jane and myself.
This day turned out to be very productive as I created a series of still images that I titled "For Honey" and shot footage for this video as well. It wasn't until rather recently that I could bring myself to work with the video and further to create a sound track for the piece. This work joins a number of pieces that I have termed "ambient video works" as they are intended to be viewed in public spaces or private dwellings.
The sound track was composed using Ableton Live utilizing a Deepmind 12D synthesizer and Arturia soft synths.
