This talk was part of Product Management Festival 2017: The Testing Mindset - How to Approach Perfect Market Fit Against all Odds.
In 2007, Gregor founded Neutron Games, which developed digital entertainment software. He was responsible for creating the product roadmap, building an agile development team, and managing a growing community in order to quickly validate new product ideas and features.
In 2013 Gregor joined etventure. As Head of Product, he has been part of 100+ digital product development projects for startups, SMEs, and corporate clients. He has seen different approaches on how to test core assumptions for new business ideas to find Product/Market Fit. Quite a few of those attempts worked out well and quite a few failed.
Currently Gregor is responsible for a team of 30+ Product Managers and UX Designers who are designing, validating, and implementing innovative digital products on a day-to-day basis.
Finding Product/Market Fit is like climbing a previously unexplored mountain. It is nothing that has never been done before but only on your way up you will realize which methods you need to apply and which tools you have to use to reach the very top. Focussing on Outcome rather than Output is one of the main cornerstorners for establishing a Testing Mindset.
This session will feature Case Studies where well-established methods and tools were used to create high-quality Outputs that did not result in valuable Outcomes. Plus the example of MobileJob, where a poster and three cell phones replaced an entire MVP development to validate what now has been proven to be an extremely successful business idea.
The goal of this session is to show that it is not only necessary to know the best innovation methods and tools out there but also how to select the right ones for a specific challenge by establishing a Testing Mindset.
