The Nazi Protective Custody Camps are a mysterious facet of German History. These camps, instated by the Third Reich in the 1940's, incarcerated young boys aged 12-17 that were deemed to be unfit for the Hitler Youth. They listened to swing music. Or they were gay. Or they were politically active. They were placed under the same conditions as those in concentration camps.
It is difficult to find what is left of Moringen, one of these camps. Questions guided me to Moringen. Although I left to create a fictional film, what I found was far different. Coming back to the states confused and bewildered, I found Gunter Koppe, a survivor in LA. This film is the result.
