THE REVOLVING HOUSE OF T. comes from artist’s long-time interest in experimenting with living habitats, as well as with other kinds of both public and private spaces, through the collaborative effort.
This particular site-specific project is located in the area of Mito city, where Atsuko Mochida has been working for over a year with an almost century old, wooden family house, abandoned for around a decade. The building has undergone a significant – yet barely noticeable at the first sight – alternation, where about 5 meters diameter-wide circular section of the interior space has been made able to rotate around its own axis. Since intentionally there has been not a single electrical component used, in order to get active the installation requires to be manually set in motion by public.
Throughout the process of developing this project Atusko Mochida has collaborated with local carpenters and printing establishments.
