‘I would definitely consider the treatment good value for money. The way I look at it is I want to be keeping my teeth for as long as possible, they’re a life time thing.’ Sophie
To a certain point, I thought it was just something that I was just going to have to live it. The constant headaches I knew wasn't normal.
I did develop a sort of cracking in my jaw over time where it just sort of would be a bit of a party trick then ended up being something that I could actually be not hindered by just when I was talking. It would lock out and it would just be a bit of nightmare with it. It would also be like a tightening in my jaw, a tightening in my neck and just everything. It seems to be the same symptoms over and over.
Mark tried to keep it as simple as possible, in explaining that, literally, my bite would be I would bite with my back teeth, bite with my front teeth and nothing in between because they don't meet. He was describing that the amount of pressure on my back teeth was so immense it was causing all the muscles to work so much harder and that, then, would lead to all this tension and the headaches.
But he did say that using one of these bite inhibitors would hopefully ease the symptoms. Then, I got referred to Mark's wife, Stella, for a physiotherapy. With them actually working together, that has seemed to help my symptoms quite dramatically.
I remember it took awhile to get used to the bite inhibitor because it was a very clumsy one, to start off with. It was a chop and a bottom set one. In the middle of the actual bite, it was very tough, so I looked like Bugs Bunny with them in. I would say the symptoms probably were alleviated within a couple of months, if not weeks.
With this new bite inhibitor, it's so discrete. It actually sits in behind my teeth now. You can't really tell I'm wearing it. It's just like a bit of plastic that runs along my bottom teeth. It's completely clear. It's so much more comfortable. It wasn't until recently when I thought about it that the cracking in my jaw have completely gone.
I'm religious with wearing it. I wear it every single night because it's so discrete. With the previous bite inhibitor, if I was going to be going ... Because I enjoy travelling. If I was going to be staying in hostels or stuff like that, I never used to wear it. But now, with the new one, I wear it all the time.
I would definitely consider the treatment value money. By keeping my teeth as long as possible and they're a lifetime thing. I don't really want to have to be worrying about dentures, or crowns, or anything like that. I just want to have my teeth kept in its best condition as possible.
