World Premiere: Slamdance 2018, USA.
Format: Short Experimental Film
Running Time: 20min
A doctor blunders forward. An artist forces progress. Cold air creeps. Industry grinds forth. Crude inky marks delineate Anna's torso. Will she find her voice?
Balancing an often outrageous yet tender manner, Katalysis examines the remaining obstacle for the male gender; its quest for maintaining control over thought in the new scientific era of early 20th century, explicitly regarding the female body,... the last dark continent.
An Anton Chekhov period-drama adaption of the short story "Anyuta" constructed with brave experimental forms that include a singular usage of each shot, an abandonment of continuity norms and a very allowing shot-by-shot cinematographic discipline.
ABOUT
What happens if you curate a film? Can I make a narrative film whilst only using any shot once? Can I disrespect continuity, locations, light, wardrobe, continuity, grading, aspect ratios... and still deliver a story? How much can I play with the space between the camera and the action?
