'Wildpower (at Reality Beach) (with mise en scene)' is an exclusive mix of the Wildpower material made from the Reality Beach version with the addition of another enframing, further complexifying the visual space and emphasizing the mediated nature of the material. Developed to amplify the original mix, this remix further re/decontextualizes the experience of Wildpower through a screen via the internet, rather than in a physical space.
Wildpower is an ongoing investigation into bringing analog drawing and painterly mark-making techniques into digital environments (video, projection, 3D modeling, etc.) Just like an animal or beast the Wildpower material is able to adapt and mutate to whatever circumstance it finds itself in. The landscape of the analog paintings, previously choreographed as videos, then evolve into a 3D landscape, twisting, turning, moving like waves crashing against the shores of reality.
Jennifer Lord & Noah Travis Phillips (née The Secret Third) are a collaborative duo dating back to the turn of the millennium. They work in hybrid and intermedia formats including painting, collage, printing, book-making, and video and digital approaches. Phillips’ & Lord’s work bridges the individual practices of each artist highlighting and amplifying the interstitial nature of collaboration. The themes of their work point unerringly to the (super)natural and the magical, via abstraction. Wildpower focuses on the sublime, the epic, and the awesome within nature. They won the "Presidential Inauguration Exhibition" award at Naropa University and have exhibited at Trident Gallery, Dead Leaf, and AGL Gallery, in addition to countless self-published books and zines.
